Communication Internship Program

Our Internship Program is designed to enhance students’ overall knowledge of the communication industry. Completed in an off-campus professional environment, communication majors participate in a hands-on experience specifically within their chosen track area.

Interns are required to spend a minimum of 150 hours within this work environment and keep a daily log of their activities. To demonstrate their critical understanding of their applied experience, students write a paper about their overall experience and then orally present this material to fellow majors. Presentations are conducted at the end of each semester and once in September for summer session interns.

Requirements for the Host:
Students must serve their internship with one or more people who are professionals in this field. An intern is not free labor, but someone who is learning from someone with experience. Internship supervisors must fill out an internship agreement form, and an evaluation form at the 75 hour and 150 hour mark.
Internships may be paid or unpaid.
